in-tech smart charging nominated for Saxon Innovation Award 2021

New vehicle-to-grid (V2G) system convinces the jury and participates in the final round at the end of May

Focusing on the energy transition - in-tech smart charging GmbH, headquartered in Leipzig, has added vehicle-to-grid (V2G) to its charging controllers for e-cars. This technology enables electric vehicles to provide bidirectional energy and data flow when connected to the charger, allowing e-batteries to act as grid-connected energy storage devices. The concept also excited the innovation platform futureSAX of the Free State of Saxony which nominated it without further ado for this year's Saxon Innovation Award 2021.

The Saxon Innovation Award 2021 nominates twelve outstanding companies from Saxony that have developed and launched a successful product, service, process, procedure or business model on the market in the past three years. This is the 30th time the award has been presented. On May 21, 2021, the companies will present their concept to a jury meeting.

E-cars as energy suppliers

in-tech smart charging is entering the race with its charge controllers, which have been expanded to include a V2G interface. With this, e-vehicles can serve as a buffer for local power generation (including photovoltaic systems). The car then serves as a battery and the power grid can either draw power from the car or vice versa, depending on the load (depending, of course, on the desired charge level or next time the vehicle will be used).

Promoting a sustainable and green future

"With V2G products, we are prepared for a future where electric vehicles are a stabilizing force for the grid instead of a load. With these clear advantages over conventional automobiles, it will be possible to increase the share of e-cars share and to enable an energy transition with sustainable and decentralized power generation," explains Thomas Wagner, Managing Director of in-tech smart charging GmbH.
